Illustrious Order of Merit

Made a Commander of the Order

The Honour was bestowed on behalf of H.R.H. Prince Leonard by the Hon. Chief Commissioner of the Legion of Frontiersmen, Independent Command, Saskatchewan, Canada Sir G.M. (Barry) Metcalfe K.I.O.M., A.M.M. for outstanding service to the Village of Ridgedale, Saskatchewan, Canada where she is described as:

"truly a servant to the community,
her activities as a volunteer and the duties carried out on behalf of the village, mostly unpaid but undaunted".

The Award Ceremony took place at a special testimonial luncheon at the Senior Citizen Centre in Ridgedale, Saskatchewan on Sunday February 82009 and was attended by more than 65 of Stella's Peers from Ridgedale and its surrounds, as well as an Ivy Schwanke, reporter/photographer for the Parkland Review Community Newspaper and Stella's Step-Brother, John Campbell, who drove more than 4 hours from his home so as not to miss the event.

With so many in attendance, a true salute was indeed given Stella, to help her not only celebrate the Award but more importantly to show her that the local community has not only noticed her input and energies spent on the Village and its inhabitants for so many years, but that they also appreciated it.
Whilst apologies were conveyed from both the Mayor,
Murray Leveque and the Deputy Mayor of Ridgedale who were both unfortunately unable to attend due to prior commitments, the Deputy Mayor, Beverley Sochaski had prepared a speech and the Clerk of the Village of Ridgedale, Barbara Messenger, attended and made the speech on Council's behalf and also presented a framed copy of the speech to Stella.

The Award Certificate signed by H.R.H. Prince Leonard was presented to Stella by Chief Commissioner, Sir Barry Metcalfe K.I.O.M., A.M.M. of the Legion of Frontiersmen, Independent Command, Saskatchewan, Canada with the medal being pinned by Deputy Chief Commissioner Shirley Metcalfe C.I.O.M.

Congratulations!
